Bering Sea Gold: Greedy People 2.05
With another summer storm looming, the miners are desperate to make the most of a couple hours of good weather to bring in some much-needed income.
With bills continuing to pile up, the Pomrenkes are desperate to get some gold in the box. As the weather picks up around them, Cody and Doug arrive for the night shift. Cody says they are in for a rough night, and Shawn tells him to get the backhoe going and make some money.
The Christine Rose is the last dredge on the water as the summer storm rolls in, and despite pulling in great material, Cody is worried about the rising swells around them. He calls Shawn who gives them the okay for them to come back to harbor. Doug has to time his harbor entry just right to sneak the Christine Rose past the breaker rocks and sandbar while turning them directly into the rising waves. One wrong move threatens to capsize the entire operation.

With Daryl recovering from his previous dive, Vern and his B-Team head out to find their marker buoy and new paystreak. Vern and Steve butt heads when Steve tries to tell him how to use the GPS.
Vern: “Some days you just want to backhand him and slam him against a wall.”
Steve dives on the same honey hole that Daryl found previously, but he still can’t see the gold. Vern is losing confidence in his ability to be a reliable dredger. Steve’s weight belt becomes unsnapped and slips up into his armpits, momentarily trapping him upside down underwater. He is able to free himself and resurfaces to catch his breath and get his bearings.
Frustrated with Steve’s performance and their wasted day, Vernon goes off. Once he’s done with his rant about federal regulations on fuel cans, the weather is bad enough that he decides to cut his losses and head in for the day.
Vern: “I could piss faster than this.”
Vern: “Fuck the federal government.”
Vern: “I’d like to give them a goddamn diesel enema and then torch it off.”

Scott’s investors are still breathing down his neck to pay up, and his crew is getting fed up with his bad attitude toward them. The engine is giving them trouble again, so they are losing dive time. Scott yells at Todd for the millionth time, and Todd leaves for the day. Another deckhand, Dan, tells Scott that if they aren’t going to get on the water today, he has to go to work at his other job to make some real money.
Scott manages to fix the dredging engine, but without his crew, he’s still stuck in the harbor. He brings on new crew member Mark Fazio and heads out for the day, despite the worsening weather around him.
Scott: “The most peaceful time here in Nome is being underwater.”
Scott dives and immediately finds some nice pickers. He resurfaces to check the sluice box and finds it loaded with gold.
Scott: “Well I’m gonna clean it up and then I’m going to stick it right next to my ballsack and go to sleep. Anybody wants to try to get it, good luck.”

The Edge / Clark
With the Edge still tied up in permitting issues, Zeke re-launches The Clark, frustrated that his operation is moving backward instead of forward.
As soon as they launch from Belmont Beach, they hit the sandbar and Zeke has to jump into the water to push them off. Emily expresses her concerns to Zeke about the worsening weather and the questionable seaworthiness of The Clark, but all Zeke can think about is his increasing need for gold to pay off his mounting debts. After three hours, the Clark arrives on their chosen mining grounds, but all other small vessels have returned to the safety of the harbor to ride out the storm. Zeke is determined to have a successful day and drops anchor anyway.
Zeke dives and finds a hot spot. He tells Emily to mark the spot on the GPS, but when she does, she realizes they are too close to Jean Martinson’s claim, who previously accused them of claim jumping. Zeke drags the dredge 85 feet North from underwater to find another hotspot, but as soon as he gets settled, the weather picks up again. Zeke is getting tossed around underwater and reluctantly comes up. He decides that it is time for them to head in.
